The Advocacy Group is an integral part of the Northwestern University Prostate Spore program. The group provides effective support of clinical activities and brings patient perspective to SPORE investigators ensuring a focus on translational research. In addition, the Advocacy Group provides a network of research advocates who work together to support the Prostate Spore program, including the research projects, career development projects, pilot projects and cores. The Advocacy Group attends monthly scientific meetings with investigators and meets monthly with the core director to discuss activities and directions. The committee chair and vice-chair attend all Prostate Spore national meetings.
The group also serves on the advisory committee to the SPORE Patient Advocate Research Team, or PART, program, a NIH-funded resource that helps link advocates and researchers. The committee chair and vice-chair attend all Prostate Spore national meetings and serve as representatives to the national PART program.
