Cancer Survivors' Celebration and Walk - Celebrating in Style for 15 Years

On Sun. June 1, National Cancer Survivors Day, over 800 cancer survivors along with friends and family members gathered in Chicago's Grant Park for the Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center of Northwestern University's signature event - the 15th Annual Cancer Survivors' Celebration and Walk. At least 40 of the more than 3,500 people who attended have participated in the celebration for all 15 years!

"The 15th anniversary of this event, which is so important to all of us here, provides an opportunity to stand back and assess how much both the walk and the Lurie Cancer Center have grown, and also to celebrate the amazing strides made in cancer research and treatment over these past 15 years," said the Lurie Cancer Center's Director, Steven Rosen, MD. "Together, we are part of a new era in cancer care, one that saves more lives, improves patients' quality of life, and holds the promise of eradicating these diseases forever."

The blue summer sky was a beautiful backdrop for the purple and white shirts along the lakefront, and the warm, sunny day was ideal for walking and enjoying the picnic lunch, entertainment and kids activities.
